The PTE Test Format is divided into 6 sections namely.

Introduction
The student is asked to give a self introductory speech, which is untimed and this part is not assessed.

Speaking and Writing
38 to 47 Questions to be answered in 77-93 minutes.

Speaking
35 to 42 Questions to be answered in 30 to 35 minutes.

Writing
3 to 5 questions in 50 to 60 minutes.

Reading
15 to 20 questions to be answered in 32 to 41 minutes.

Listening
17 to 25 questions to be answered in 45 to 57 minutes.

The Total duration of the entire Test Format is 3 Hours.


Section

Speaking & Writing (77 – 93 minutes)

Speaking :
It has 2 sections.

Speaking Section 1 :
It contains the personal introduction. This is an opportunity to give your selected institutions some information about yourself. This section is not scored.

Speaking Section 2 :
It contains read aloud, repeat sentence ,describe image, Retell lecture and answer short.

Writing :
Summarize written text. You need to write a summary of the text in one sentence. You have 10 minutes to write your summary. Make sure to include the main points of the reading passage in a full single sentence of no more than 75 words.

Write Essay :
For this section you need to write a 200-300 word argumentative essay in response to a prompt. You have 20 minutes to write your essay.

Reading (32 – 41 minutes) :
For this section you need to read the passage and answer the multiple choice question. It would be multiple choice, choose single answer, Further this module contains multiple-choice, choose multiple answers, re-order paragraphs and fill in the blanks.

Listening (45 – 57 minutes) :
You hear an audio recording and need to write a 50-70 word summary on what you heard. You have 10 minutes to write your summary. This module also has multiple-choice, choose multiple answers, fill in the blanks, highlight correct summary, select missing word, highlight incorrect words and write from dictation.


Scoring

Overall score is a mark out of 90. The good score of 65 which is a good indication of your English language ability in real-life academic situations.

JME offers intensive and comprehensive training services to people aspiring to obtain a desirable score in PTE. We have qualified, experienced and trained teachers, who impart training to our students.

How we train our students.

We conduct a mock test on the first day of training, simulating the testing conditions, to gauge where the person stands in terms of his English abilities. The individual is given the scores after the test is over. Subsequently, we start the classroom training.

We use Pearson's Official Guide of PTE, an official publication on PTE, to conduct classroom sessions. For Speaking part, one-on-one sessions are conducted exactly on the lines of test and the answers are discussed after the session. Scores are given and guidelines are provided to improve the scores.

For Writing Part, firstly, the types of questions are explained with essay-writing guidelines. Students are made to practice all the compositions of summary and essay types from the test software. Each essay is assessed and guidelines are provided to make the essay better.

For Reading, our teachers provide the details about various question types and explain the approach to answer the same. After introductory discussion, the reading questions are practised from test-software.

Towards the end of each test, every question is discussed with the students and answers are explained. In this way, all tests are completed with students. Discussion is an integral part of Reading sessions.

For Listening, firstly the test is played non-stop and students answer the questions as they listen.

1. What is the difference between IELTS and PTE?
Both IELTS and PTE are Standard English language tests that are taken by students who are appearing for admission to a university/college abroad. While most universities/colleges accept both IELTS and/or PTE Scores, however, there are times when a particular college/university could lean towards one exam over the other. While IELTS is a paper-based exam and scored on a scale of 1-9, PTE is a computer-based test scared on a scale of 10-90 points. 2. Which is tougher IELTS or PTE?
Both PTE and IELTS follow a similar standard of testing students in the English Language. It is important for students to practice well to be able to score well in the exam. It is entirely on the English language experience of the student to understand the level of the exam. Candidates can check out the syllabus and exam pattern of both PTE and IELTS to understand the difference between the two.

3. What are the countries that accept PTE?
The PTE Academic exam is widely accepted across universities/colleges in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and New Zealand. There are also a lot of educational institutions in countries apart from the ones mentioned earlier that accept PTE Scores for their admission process.  

4. Is PTE an online exam?
The PTE Academic is a solely online exam. There is no paper-based version of the test.

5. Where is the test conducted?

The test is conducted at Pearson Testing Centers. In India, the test centers are in Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi. There are more centers opening soon.
